about

HOW TO MAKE A FOIBLES ALBUM: Write song. Record multiple versions of song. Conclude that all versions of song are crap. Let simmer and mope (6-10 years). Squeamishly decide to use version of song with fastest tempo because faster is faster than slower and therefore better. Wonder if you have made a mistake. Drink coffee. Know you have made a mistake. Repeat all steps until episodes of mania become primary source of entertainment. Serve hastily.

WARNING: When your Foibles album is complete you will be left with a fair amount of unused demos, random covers, and alternate recordings. This is normal. Simply place these items in a 500-800 gauge polythene satchel and carefully dress said satchel in a suit of fire. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you release the flaming bag as a compilation album. This will only invoke the spirits of self-doubt and misery. Also Scott won't like it.

THE WAFFLE TAPE AUTOPSY: This album is a junk drawer of neglected demos, experiments, and alternate versions. This album is selfish, frivolous and arrogant. Do not trust this album. This album lies.

SPECIAL NOTE: "The Mediocrities" was a two person band that my friend Asa and I started in 1996 to counteract the threat of employment. I'd write a handful of minute long micro songs and then Asa would put his fingers on the piano and make them 78% better and 63% longer. The band never got beyond the 4 track recordings. We played one show at a house party, got jobs, and disbanded. A few of the Mediocrities songs became Foibles songs and some of the original 4 track recordings can be found here (tracks 6, 14 & 21). Mostly I'm pointing this out because I think the piano parts are rad and Asa is rad and if you see him you should buy him precious gems and booze(s).
